The Botany Aquatic Centre Redevelopment project is gathering momentum, with the project continuing to progress well and main construction on schedule to commence in late March 2026.
Once complete, the redeveloped Botany Aquatic Centre will feature modern, state-of-the-art facilities designed for all ages and abilities. The plans include adventure waterplay and slides, a 50-metre outdoor competition pool, an indoor learn-to-swim pool, a 25-metre indoor lap pool, new gym facilities, a grandstand and extensive landscaping to create a welcoming community space.
The Botany Aquatic Centre closed to the public on 27 April 2025 to make way for this major redevelopment. Since then, demolition and ground remediation works have been successfully completed and are now awaiting final sign-off from the site auditor.
These important early works mark a significant milestone in preparing the site for the next phase of construction.
As the auditing process is finalised, the appointed main works contractor, FDC, is undertaking detailed site investigations. This includes confirming ground conditions, identifying existing services and supporting final construction and coordination planning to ensure a smooth transition into the main build phase.
A Construction Certificate is required before main construction can begin, and this approval process is currently underway in line with the approved project schedule. Over the coming weeks, the project team will continue detailed coordination and construction planning, followed by site establishment works in preparation for full construction.
Subject to all required approvals being received, main construction is expected to commence in late March 2026.
The new Botany Aquatic Centre is expected to open in time for the summer 2027/28 season, delivering an exciting new aquatic destination for the Bayside community.
Bayside Mayor Edward McDougall said
"I am excited to see that work on this fantastic community facility is on schedule and I am looking forward to the pool reopening in the summer of 2027/28.
