Police are investigating after a string of break and enters reported in the state's north west over the weekend.
Officers attached to Central North Police District commenced an investigation after multiple break, enter and steal offences were reported at a unit complex on Green Street, Bourke, between Tuesday 28 April 2026 and Friday 1 May 2026.
About 5.35pm Friday 1 May 2026, police were called to a home on Anson St, Bourke, with reports of a break and enter. On arrival, officers found several doors at the property had been kicked in, however no property was reported stolen, or injuries were reported.
About 5.30pm Saturday 2 May 2026, police were called to a shed on Anson Street, Bourke, with reports it had been broken into. Police arrived and found the shed – and several others onsite – had been damaged. No items were reported stolen.
About 8.45pm Saturday 2 May 2026, officers were again called to the unit complex on Green Street, Bourke, after reports a woman had been threatened with a knife.
Police arrived and were told a resident – a woman in her 30s – had been threatened with a machete by an unknown man demanding money, before he fled the scene. No injuries were reported.
About 2.30am yesterday (Monday 4 May 2026), police were called to a unit on Mertin St, Bourke, with reports of a break and enter.
On arrival, officers were told the resident had been awoken by an unknown person attempting to enter the home before fleeing. Police found two vehicles at the property had been broken into, with smashed windows and various items scattered nearby. A mobile phone and a set of keys were allegedly stolen.
About 7am yesterday (Monday 4 May 2026), police were called to a home on Anson Street, Bourke, with reports of a break in. Police arrived to find the front window of a vehicle parked at the property was smashed and the inside ransacked, with cash reportedly stolen.
As investigations continue, police would like to speak with a male who may be able to assist with their inquiries.
He is described as being of Aboriginal/Torres Strait Islander appearance, around 14-18 years old, around 150-160cm tall, with dark hair and slim build.
