Bowen Road Primary School library reopens

Roger Jaensch, Minister for Education, Children and Youth

Bowen Road Primary School has celebrated the reopening of its school library after it sustained substantial fire damage in 2022.

Education, Children and Youth Minister, Roger Jaensch, visited the school on Wednesday to view the repairs and talk to staff and students about the importance of the new library.

"Tiifreno Builders was engaged to restore the library as a priority to minimise the interruption to teaching and learning," Minister Jaensch said.

"It is wonderful to see the library back in action after the devastating fire last year and I know school staff are working hard to fill the shelves with books and resources now the building is complete.

"The fire also led to the demolition of four classrooms, with a local architect recently being appointed to design the new learning spaces."

Construction is expected to commence in late 2023 with completion anticipated in 2024.

The Rockliff Liberal Government will continue to work with the school and its community to deliver these new learning areas.

Minister Jaensch commended the students and staff at Bowen Road Primary School for their resilience and positivity following the fire.

"We will continue to provide assistance to minimise any impacts on learning as site works continue to progress," Minister Jaensch said.
