Detectives from the Missing Persons Squad have charged a 16-year-old boy after human remains were located in Donald on Thursday as part of a search for a missing teenage girl.
The 16-year-old has been charged with one count of murder.
The boy from the Swan Hill area was arrested by detectives on Friday following the execution of a warrant at a residential address.
The charge follows an investigation into the disappearance of a missing 13-year-old girl who was last seen on 4 July and was reported missing to police by a family member on Sunday 5 July.
The boy is expected to appear before a children's court this afternoon for a remand hearing.
