Boy injured in cliff fall, NSW

A boy has been seriously injured after falling from a cliff at Windang Island, south of Wollongong, NSW Police say.

About 9.10pm today, a 15-year-old boy attempted to retrieve a dropped mobile phone when he fell about 12 meters down a cliff, landing on a rock platform below.

Police and the Ambulance Rescue helicopter responded and the boy was taken to Sydney Children’s Hospital with fractured ribs and a fractured wrist.

Police from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command are speaking to witnesses.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers.
