NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), together with NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS), will conduct a hazard reduction burn in Brimbin Nature Reserve tomorrow morning, Saturday 9 May, weather permitting.
The 65-hectare burn aims to reduce bushfire fuel including dead leaves and fallen branches to help manage bushfire risk in the area.
Reducing bushfire fuel loads aims to improve protection for neighbouring properties, especially those near Brimbin Road and Sophia Crescent.
Public access to the reserve will be closed, including all track and trails in the burn area. These will be reopened once they have been assessed as safe, and visitors can check the NPWS website for updates.
Smoke may affect roads and private properties near the reserve. Motorists are reminded to drive to conditions and take care if visibility is reduced by smoke.
