Bringing Up Kids Expo goes online

A popular City of Whittlesea forum giving parents and carers tips, hints and tricks on bringing up kids has taken a twist this year, going virtual with a three-day festival of fun.

The Bringing Up Kids expo is a highlight on the Council calendar, and this year will run via Facebook from 8-10 September, with seminars, online activities and interactive fun and games planned.

Chair Administrator Lydia Wilson said a variety of engaging and informative content would be posted over three days, with plenty for parents to dig into and even some fun activities for children.

"The Bringing Up Kids expo brings together family support agencies to provide information on services, programs and events offered in the City of Whittlesea for your family, and it's a really popular annual event," Ms Wilson said.

"Lockdowns mean we've had to get creative with our delivery this year, but we're excited to still be able to run the event online. It's really important to stay connected in these challenging times, and we hope lots of families can join us to access valuable information, tips, advice and support on raising children."

Highlights of the expo include:

  • Yarra Plenty Regional Library Storytime
  • Parenting information from local family support agencies
  • Sensory play experiences with your children

To join the expo, visit the City of Whittlesea page on Facebook, click on the events, choose Bringing Up Kids Expo and select "going" to be notified of event details.

It is hoped an in-person event will be held later in the year, COVID-19 restrictions permitting
