Brisbane Aircraft Noise Group appoints community representatives

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

The first meeting of the new Brisbane Airport Community Airspace Advisory Board will be held today.

Five community representatives have joined the Board which is a permanent, independent forum established by the Albanese Government to give Brisbane residents a stronger voice on aircraft noise.

Following an open expression of interest process in March this year, the independent Chair of the Board, Mr Ron Brent, has identified Mr David Diamond, Ms Tess Bignell, Mr Stephen Muller, Ms Sandra Bell and Ms Kirsten Stewart as the inaugural members.

These members represent communities from across Brisbane, including Redlands, Samford Valley and inner-city localities - and all have strong backgrounds in community engagement.

They will serve the first two-year term on the Board, where they will have close engagement on the design and implementation of airspace improvement measures outlined in the Brisbane Airport Noise Action Plan.

The meeting will bring together these community members with industry and government representatives to work towards practical outcomes for Brisbane residents affected by aircraft noise.
