Brisbane Registry Hearts Race on Valentine's Day

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister for Integrity The Honourable Deb Frecklington
  • Twenty couples are set to have their marriages officiated by the Brisbane Registry this Valentine's Day.
  • It follows a record-breaking year, which saw more than 2,600 couples exchange vows through the Registry in 2025.
  • Today's ceremonies mark the second highest number of Valentine's Day weddings for the Brisbane Registry.

Twenty loved-up couples will say "I do" with a Brisbane Registry wedding on the most romantic day of the year.

A dozen weddings will be held this Valentine's Day at the Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages (RBDM) on Ann Street, offering couples the opportunity to tie the knot while taking in lovely views across Greater Brisbane.

With the increased popularity of Valentine's Day nuptials for the Registry, another eight ceremonies will be held at a second iconic city location - Brisbane Powerhouse.

Weddings officiated by the Registry include a celebrant, ceremony space and ceremonial marriage certificate, with weddings costing just under $400 on weekdays and slightly above $500 on a Saturday, making it an affordable option for Queenslanders.

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice and Minister for Integrity Deb Frecklington congratulated the happy couples and praised the Registry's role in providing meaningful, accessible wedding services.

"To have so many couples exchanging their vows on the day of love really demonstrates the quality and value of the service RBDM provides," the Attorney-General said.

"The venues are exceptional and the staff and celebrants at the Registry deliver an outstanding yet affordable service for couples celebrating their special day.

"Each of the couples tying the knot today have my heartfelt congratulations as they say, 'I Do', and I wish them all a lifetime of health and happiness together."

RBDM ceremonies are performed throughout the year by a team of dedicated celebrants. The service continues to grow in popularity with a record 2,616 couples exchanging vows through the Registry in 2025.
