- New quarterly data reveals record 50,000 homes under construction in Queensland for the first time on record.
- Australian Bureau of Statistics data show the third consecutive record quarter for Queensland's housing pipeline, increasing by 25.6 per cent in just 12 months, faster than any other State or Territory.

Queensland currently has the most homes under construction than at any point in its history, with new Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) data revealing 50,000 homes under construction, highlighting the Crisafulli Government's record investment in unlocking and fast-tracking housing supply across the State.
The ABS data, for the quarter to March, demonstrates the Crisafulli Government's plan to deliver a place to call home for more Queenslanders is taking effect and addressing Labor's Housing Crisis.
The results reflect the Crisafulli Government's plan to lift productivity across the construction sector after Labor's decade of decline, including abolishing Labor's Best Practice Industry Conditions – the CFMEU Tax – and ensuring building sites are free of violence, misogyny and intimidation.
Building on the momentum today the Crisafulli Government announced two new Residential Activation Fund projects that will unlock a further 938 homes in Brisbane by delivering the infrastructure needed to build homes sooner, with:
- 615 homes unlocked in Bridgeman Downs with the Beams Road Sewerage Infrastructure project, including new sewer pump station, rising main, and gravity sewer main to support residential development on Beams Road, in a $2.5 million investment.
- 323 homes unlocked in Pallara with the Pallara Stormwater Infrastructure Upgrade including box culvert drainage along a 350-metre length of Sweets Road, in a $8.4 million investment.
Across Rounds 1 and 2 of the Residential Activation Fund, 2,223 new homes are being unlocked across Brisbane in four projects.
The Residential Activation Fund program has now unlocked land for more than 140,000 homes statewide, helping deliver a place to call home for more Queenslanders.
In contrast, Labor's decade of decline saw housing lot approvals slump by 29 per cent, leading to record-low rental vacancy rates, a skyrocketing social housing waitlist and the lowest home ownership rate in the country.
These record construction numbers and investment is in addition to a record number of housing approvals by Economic Development Queensland, with over 14,600 new homes and lots approved last financial year.
The Residential Activation Fund is just one of the Crisafulli Government's range of initiatives delivering a place to call home for more Queenslanders, including:
- More than $2 billion in joint Federal and State funding to unlock 51,000 homes, including 20,000 for first home buyers.
- Releasing underutilised State land for housing under the landmark Land Activation Program.
- Relief for first homeowners with $30,000 First Home Owner Grants continuing and locked into the Budget.
- Supporting first home buyers by removing stamp duty on new builds.
- Introducing a nation-leading Boost to Buy shared equity scheme to help reduce the deposit gap, with half of the up to 2,000 places reserved for regional Queenslanders.
- Increasing rental availability by lifting subletting restrictions for homebuyers receiving grants and concessions.
- Delivering 1 million homes, including a record pipeline of 53,500 social and community homes by 2044.
Premier David Crisafulli said the Government was delivering a place to call home for more Queenslanders.
"Queensland now has more homes under construction than at any point in the State's history, opening the door to home ownership and easing the rental squeeze," Premier Crisafulli said.
"Fifty thousand homes under construction across Queensland is fifty thousand families closer to unlocking that dream of home ownership.
"We are building faster than any other region in the country, with three record quarters in a row, and we will capitalise on every bit of that momentum to deliver more homes for Queenslanders.
"We will continue to pull every lever deliver more supply, to keep building on this momentum and ensure we can deliver a place to call home for more Queenslanders."
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jarrod Bleijie said the investment was a clear demonstration of Crisafulli Government's commitment to building Queensland's future.
"These are early signs that our Government's record-breaking housing supply initiatives including the Residential Activation Fund and Land Activation Program are beginning to take effect," Deputy Premier Bleijie said.
"The Crisafulli Government is pulling every lever to increase housing supply. From Brisbane to Burketown, we're getting on with the job of delivering the infrastructure needed to unlock new housing opportunities across Queensland after a decade of decline under Labor.
"Availability equals affordability and by ensuring supply is unlocked, while also delivering a record number of social and affordable homes and support for first homebuyers, we're delivering a place to call home for more Queenslanders, and the fresh start we promised them."
Master Builders Deputy CEO Michael Hopkins said the data proved industry could deliver the homes Queenslanders need when the policy settings were right.
"The Queensland Government has recognised the scale of the housing challenge and backed reforms that are helping to unlock new housing supply," Mr Hopkins said.
"The combined focus on enabling infrastructure, procurement reform, and more efficient planning and building regulation has improved conditions for housing delivery and investment.
"The task now is to build on that progress and continue pursuing reforms, including the Queensland Productivity Commission's recommendations, that support the delivery of more homes across the state."
Turrisi Properties Development Director Ben Kewley said the investment in critical infrastructure would help support future housing delivery in Bridgeman Downs.
"This funding for the Beams Road sewerage infrastructure is an important step in supporting residential development in the Bridgeman Downs catchment," Mr Kewley said.
"Enabling infrastructure like this is essential to turning land into homes and making sure new communities can be delivered efficiently.
"We welcome the support through the Residential Activation Fund and the focus on practical measures that help bring forward housing supply."
Ausbuild Managing Director Michael Loney said the investment in enabling infrastructure was critical to getting more homes to market sooner.
"Infrastructure like sewerage, stormwater, roads and utilities is what turns development-ready land into new homes for Queenslanders," Mr Loney said.
"This investment helps remove key barriers to delivery and gives industry greater confidence to keep projects moving.
"When government and industry work together to unlock land and fast-track infrastructure, it means more homes can be built sooner."
