Works to refurbish the Broken Hill Ambulance Station will begin in the first half of next year to improve the facilities for paramedics as part of a capital works program for rural and regional ambulance stations.
The refurbishment will include electrical upgrades to the switchboard and lighting, repairs to the roof and cladding, reconfiguration of and repairs to the driveways and hard standing areas and an upgrade of the vehicle wash bay.
Works will also include a refresh of internal amenities including flooring and painting, upgraded bathroom and kitchen facilities and new rest areas to support paramedics, including an additional 18 who were deployed in 2024 as part of the $1.76 billion Strategic Workforce and Infrastructure Team (SWIFT) program.
A site consultation with NSW Ambulance senior managers from Broken Hill took place earlier this month.
NSW Public Works will now undertake project management services for the refurbishment on behalf of NSW Ambulance, with initial designs to be completed by the end of the year.
A tender for the refurbishment will be released early in 2026, with construction expected to begin in late April.
NSW Ambulance will continue to keep staff updated on the progress of these works.
The SWIFT Program was launched in 2022 to deliver 2,500 additional NSW Ambulance staff, including 500 paramedics to rural and regional areas, and 30 additional ambulance stations to boost emergency and mobile healthcare for our metropolitan and regional communities.
