Budget Boost For Students At White Hills Primary School

VIC Premier

Every family deserves access to a great local school, and the Allan Labor Government is building and upgrading our schools and classrooms across the state.

Premier and Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan today visited White Hills Primary School in Bendigo to announce the school would receive $9.2 million for an upgrade and modernisation project as part of the Labor Government's investment in additional learning spaces.

Following planning funding, the school will build a competition-grade gymnasium that has a sports court as well as music and storage spaces - making sure students have better physical education and performing arts facilities.

These upgrades build on the Government's $4.6 million investment to transform old classrooms and facilities into the modern learning environment students and staff needed to achieve their best - delivering the school's masterplan and first stage of works.

We're also investing in more schools across the Loddon Mallee, with $6 million to help Victory Christian College build the first stage of an Epsom campus which will include an education centre with 11 classrooms, a food tech room, basketball court, a science lab and a flexible learning space.

Works are also underway at Huntly Primary School thanks to a $13.1 million investment to build new modern, multi-storey classrooms which will create places for an extra 100 local children - backed by previous upgrades to build a brand new playground and a new roof over the school's outdoor hard courts.

With this budget, the Labor Government has now invested $18.5 billion over the past 11 years to deliver more than 2,300 school upgrades and 123 new schools since 2015.

Since 2015, regional schools have received funding for over 890 upgrades with 11 new schools opened and a further 4 due to open on Day 1, 2026, for a total investment of $1.8 billion.

Because we know the difference it makes to kids and their families - we're continuing to build, expand, upgrade and maintain schools across our growing state creating more than 13,300 extra places for students.

This Budget also delivers real cost of living help with a boost to the Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund, on top of the ongoing support delivered by the Labor Government - with free school breakfasts, free vision screening and glasses, free dental checkups, and free pads and tampons in government schools.

This is a Budget that is focused on what matters most - delivering real cost of living help for families and making sure their kids have access to great local schools, modern classrooms and the support they need to succeed.

As stated by Premier and Member for Bendigo East Jacinta Allan

"Kids in our community deserve access to a great local school and a quality education no matter where they live - that's why we're investing more than $28 million in schools across the northern corridor of Bendigo."

"This Budget invests in our kids with more help for families, building new classrooms and supporting the important learning that happens inside them."
