Building Homes For Better Services In Irymple

VIC Premier

The Allan Labor Government is ensuring essential services workers in the state's north-west have more places stay, with new worker housing in Irymple now completed.

Minister for Regional Development, Jaclyn Symes, today announced the first two of 10 new houses have been completed ahead of schedule as part of a project supported by the Regional Worker Accommodation Fund.

The fund supports new worker housing and accommodation in regional communities, helping alleviate skills shortages and bolster service delivery across Victoria.

In Irymple, the new housing will provide accommodation for workers in healthcare, education and law enforcement - these skilled workers will support this growing town just outside Mildura, and the needs of its community.

The houses are being built by Mildura-based company MCBG Karadoc, and once all 10 residences are completed will provide a total of 28 bedrooms for workers and their families.

Worker accommodation in the Mallee is a key priority for the Victorian Government, with a series of Regional Worker Accommodation Fund projects on the way in the region.

This includes seven units for workers in the Buloke Shire, three units to support workers for Kerang District Health, and 10 units for key workers in Robinvale.

These projects are helping more people have access to jobs close to home and helping regional communities attract the key workers they need.

The Regional Worker Accommodation Fund is part of our $47 billion delivered in regional investments in just over a decade, driving economic growth and making Victoria a better place to live, work, stay, experience, invest and study.

"This is another example of how we are continuing to invest in the infrastructure needed for a growing, healthy and prosperous regional Victoria."

As stated by MCBG Karadoc Director Ben Garraway
