Between 5,000 to 10,000 people are tipped to visit the Waterfront and Eastern Beach area each day across the upcoming Labour Day long weekend (9-11 March).
Warm weather, including a forecast top of 39 degrees on Saturday, the public holiday on Monday and the free Wooden Boat Festival at the Royal Geelong Yacht Club will see escalated service levels from the City.
We are providing extra staff who will clean toilets and park areas more frequently, increased Community Safety and Regulation patrols, an expanded lifeguard roster and more bins. Seasonal additional toilets continue to be located at Eastern Beach and are available for all.
Staff will be live monitoring CCTV, while traffic management crews will manage the Eastern Beach car park at Ritchie Boulevard. Dog owners are reminded that their pets must remain on a leash.
Community members are encouraged to place materials like 'flushable' wipes that don't disintegrate in water, sanitary items and nappies into the bins provided in toilet facilities. Please also avoid heaping litter in and around bins, which then gets blown around the land and water.

It is set to be a bumper Labour Day long weekend at the Waterfront and Eastern Beach.Because we're expecting thousands of visitors to descend on this picturesque location, it will be all hands on deck for the City's cleaning, lifeguard, Community Safety and Regulation and waste crews.
A friendly reminder for community members to respect each other and the infrastructure, and take advantage of the facilities provided instead of using illegal coal fired BBQs or open fires.
There will be increased demand for the Ritchie Boulevard carpark near Eastern Beach so we ask drivers to be kind to the traffic management crews who will only be allowing access when parks become available.

The City is putting on extra staff to manage the increase of visitors to the Waterfront and Eastern Beach.We want everyone to have a great time this long weekend and enjoy the warmer weather along our north-facing Corio Bay.
Community members can report a blockage, untidy toilets or other waste issues by calling the City's customer service line on 5272 5272 or via our website.
We ask visitors to use the bins provided in toilet facilities, including for 'flushable' wipes which don't break down in the sewerage system and cause blockages and overflows.
