A man wanted in relation to a commercial burglary in Carlton earlier this month has been arrested and charged by detectives this week.
The 54-year-old was arrested by detectives who were actively searching for the man in Carlton in the early hours of Monday 12 January.
The Princess Hill man has been issued with more than 50 charges relating to several incidents since November last year, investigated by detectives from both Melbourne and Yarra crime investigation units.
The charges include:
- aggravated burglary
- burglary
- theft
- obtain property by deception
- criminal damage
- handle stolen goods
- attempted theft
- without authority or excuse enter private property
- commit indictable offence whilst on bail.
The alleged incidents involve:
- an aggravated burglary on 24 November in Kensington
- a burglary in Kensington on 7 December
- a burglary at an office in Drummond Street on 4 January in Carlton, and
- several burglaries, theft and attempted thefts in Fitzroy North and Princess Hill on 28 December.
More than 30 of the charges relate to incidents of obtaining property by deception in and around Melbourne and surrounding suburbs over three days from 24-27 December.
He was also processed for three outstanding warrants for failing to attend on bail.
The man has been remanded in custody to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 9 February 2026.
