Burglary and car theft charges at Mackay

Police have charged a man following a traffic crash in Mackay yesterday.

Around 11.20am, it will be alleged a stolen car collided with a street sign and two parked cars on Alfred Street and the driver fled. A man was arrested a short time later on Shakespeare Street.

It will be further alleged, the car was stolen from a property in Montgomery Street around 5.45am yesterday during a burglary.

A 19-year-old man has been charged with burglary, receiving tainted property, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, dangerous driving and driving without a licence.

He is due to appear in Mackay Magistrates Court today.
