Burnie Show & Agri-Expo returns for 101st event

Jo Palmer, Minister for Primary Industries and Water

Agricultural shows are the heart and soul of regional and rural communities and it is wonderful to see the 2022 Show & Agri-Expo happening in Burnie after a two-year hiatus due to COVID-19.

There is so much on offer at the 101st event, including the showcasing of local livestock, crafts, produce and equestrian events, providing the community with an opportunity to engage with exhibitors and farmers learning how and why they farm.

Organised by the Burnie Agricultural & Pastoral Society, the show has returned to the Agriplex site for the second time, with the relocation partially funded by the sale of its previous site at the southern end of the Wivenhoe Showground.

The Tasmanian Liberal Government provided $24,573 in funding through the Agricultural Show Development Grants Program 2020-21 to construct a bus and taxi loop at the new site.

Additional funding of $16,691 was provided from the Australian Government Regional Agricultural Show Development Program 2020-21 to help relieve cashflow pressures.

The Tasmanian Government is a strong supporter of agricultural shows and that is why we extended the Agricultural Show Development Grants Program for a further two years to 2023-24.

Through the grants program, we are investing $500,000 into the State's much-loved shows so they can continue to bring regional communities together for years to come.

Thanks again to everyone who has been involved in organising the 101st Burnie show.
