Bushfire mitigation works at Emu Swamp

The City of Swan will commence works to remove non-native Eucalyptus trees (Eucalytus grandis) in a portion of Emu Swamp to reduce the bushfire risk on nearby housing and reduce the impact to the natural biodiversity of Emu Swamp.

Works will commence in March, and are expected to finish in May 2022.

Native Eucalyptus trees will not be impacted and works will be conducted in an environmentally safe manner to minimise the impact to the swamp. We have also worked closely with The Emu Swamp Local Friends of Group to plan the replanting of appropriate native vegetation once the trees are removed.

Funding for this project has been awarded through the Department of Fire and Emergency Services Bushfire Mitigation Activity Fund.
