Bushfire Recovery Survey underway

Council and the NSW Government are committed to supporting community members on their journey to recovery from the devastating 2019/20 bushfires, the Mayor of Hawkesbury, Councillor Barry Calvert said.

"It has been several months since the Gospers Mountain Fire hit our community, so we would like to check in and hear from people whose residence or business was damaged or destroyed in the fires," Mayor Calvert said.

Council, in partnership with Service NSW and Resilience NSW, has sent out an email survey asking bushfire affected residents to answer a few questions.

"Hearing from our bushfire affected residents, and anyone who attended bushfire recovery meetings, will help us to better understand your needs and identify how we can continue to help you and our community," Mayor Calvert continued.

"The information you provide in the email survey will help us make the best decisions for our community

"We will also use this contact to keep you informed about assistance that is available and refer you to services that could help you.

"Connecting with impacted community members and hearing from you helps us provide support to you and the community," he said.

"We are asking community members to check your email because if your home was damaged or destroyed in the bushfires, or Council connected with you in providing recovery services at a recovery event, you should have received an email from Service NSW on behalf of Council.

"We don't only rely on email as email doesn't work for everyone, that's why Council, in partnership with the Red Cross, has contacted community members by phone over the past few months and we will continue reaching out by phone as part of this survey as well," the Mayor said.
