Bushwalker rescue operation, NSW

Police, NSW Ambulance and Fire & Rescue NSW are today working to rescue a teenage bushwalker injured on the Central Coast, NSW Police say.

The 15-year-old girl was on a school camping trip in the Brisbane Water National Park at Wondabyne and suffered a possible neck injury during a bushwalk just after 1pm yesterday (Sunday 25 February 2018).

Emergency services tracked into the national park yesterday, with the girl treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics who stayed with her overnight.

She is in a stable condition.

The inclement weather is today hampering operations to extract the girl from the national park, with no road access to the site and difficult conditions for an air extraction.

A command post has been established at Kariong with Brisbane Water Police District officers co-ordinating the rescue effort.
