Developers, industry representatives, small and local business owners, and community members came together on Wednesday, 21 January to discuss development activity and the future of the Shire at Kempsey Shire Council's Business Breakfast 2026.
The event created an opportunity for Council to share updates on works across the Shire, outline key challenges, and highlight where Council is heading in relation to development. The morning saw, presentations and conversations around major projects aimed at economic growth across the Macleay Valley, council documents and processes, as well as Council's work as an employer of choice.
The diverse mix of attendees reflected a wide range of experiences and viewpoints, creating space for open and constructive conversations about what is happening throughout the Shire, how people can get involved, and what opportunities may emerge in the future.
Andrew Meddle, Kempsey Shire Council CEO, said the breakfast provided a valuable opportunity to talk openly about where we are and where we're heading as a shire.
"It was great to listen, to hear directly from developers, business owners, community members and have honest conversations about what's working and what could be improved," said Mr Meddle.
Following presentations from Council staff, attendees asked questions, shared perspectives, and contributed to a broader understanding of the Macleay Valley.
Council thanks everyone who attended and contributed to the discussion. Feedback and insights shared at the Business Breakfast will inform Council's ongoing work and future engagement with the business community.
