Hobart-founded company, Bargain Car Rentals, which now services customers across 14 national locations has been sold to investors in a deal set to be worth hundreds of millions.
Treasurer Eric Abetz said this investment is a strong sign of confidence in Tasmania's economy.
"Our Liberal Government is delivering the settings needed to champion private investment and back private business in Tasmania," the Treasurer said.
"Bargain Car Rentals is a local success story that has established itself across the country.
"It has now launched onto the next stage, with international investors seeing the value in this Tasmanian company.
"We recognise our nation - and the world - are in uncertain times, which is why we must continue to keep our economy strong.
"Tasmania's unemployment has remained at record lows and our business confidence is the highest in the nation.
"Today's announcement is a big win for a Tasmanian success story, and I congratulate Bargain Car Rentals on this massive milestone."
