Business welcomes Premier Andrews

The Victorian Chamber of Commerce and Industry congratulates the Hon Daniel Andrews MP and the Victorian Labor party on their success in the 2018 state election.

Victoria Chamber Chief Executive Mark Stone AM said the business community welcomes the re-election of Labor and looks forward to a public-private partnership of growth and prosperity over the next four years.

Victoria's 590,000 businesses employ 2.5 million people and are the force behind Victoria's economic success. Stronger business means prosperity and good jobs for Victorians.

Mr Stone said that the alignment of some of Labor's election commitments with business priorities was welcome.

"The Andrews Government's commitment to construct a rail link to Melbourne airport, North East Link, remove more level crossings and regional fast rail will help tackle congestion and move people and freight around Victoria, and local content requirements will ensure Victorian businesses have every opportunity to secure the lion's share of government contracts," said Mr Stone.

The Victorian Chamber also acknowledges the strong support for business received from the Hon Matthew Guy MP and the Liberal National Coalition during the election campaign.

Mr Stone said that the Chamber has welcomed the willingness of both major parties to engage with our team and our members to discuss business priorities for Victoria in the lead up to the election.
