A Cairns man was sitting on the couch last night when he glanced up at the television and saw his 18-year-old lottery numbers right before his eyes, delivering him a sweet million-dollar Weekday Windfall win.

The Far North Queenslander held one of the two division one winning entries nationally in Weekday Windfall draw 4677, drawn Monday 16 March 2026, and took home a total prize of $1,016,130.70.

When we rang this morning, the winning man immediately answered the phone, admitting he'd been up all night waiting for the confirmation.

"I can't speak right now, because I know why you're calling," he cried.

"I can't find the words right now. Bear with me, as I'm about to burst into tears.

"I was unwinding on the couch last night and had the television going as some background noise. At one point, I looked up and that's when I saw my numbers on the screen.

"I couldn't believe what I was seeing so I tapped my partner and got her to take a look too. I said to her, 'Are they our winning numbers on the television right now?!'

"Those numbers have been my go-to for 18 years now. They're full of special numbers to me.

"I always had a feeling they'd come up one day, but I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

"It was surreal. The numbers looked 10 times bigger than normal. It was like my very own numbers were thrown in my face.

"Gosh, thinking about it has my eyes all watery again.

"It feels like a dream come true. We'll never forget last night discovering the win."

Overwhelmed by the winning news, the newly minted millionaire said he'd need some time to process the prize.

"It's still sinking in for us. Our emotions are all over the shop," he said.

"It's hard to plan what we'll do with the prize right now, because we're kind of stuck in a haze.

"Seeing as it's St Patrick's Day today, I think we'll get out of the house and celebrate."

His winning marked System 9 entry was purchased on The Lott website - the official home of Australia's lotteries.
