CALD Employment Roundtable held in lead up to Jobs Summit

Department of Home Affairs

Today, I met with community representatives from culturally and linguistically diverse communities to hear about the employment experiences of CALD Australians, ahead of the Jobs and Skills Summit to be held next month.

Australia's diversity is a critical source of innovation and a significant value proposition for the strength and dynamism of the business sector.

Our multicultural population includes people drawn from over 250 ancestries and speaking over 350 languages. This gives us an extraordinary advantage in doing business regionally and globally - especially if we do more to ensure that everyone can fulfil their potential, and we harness all the benefit of our diversity.

I warmly welcome the opportunity to hear from the representatives today to ensure that the perspective of CALD communities is included in the wider discussion on raising participation and reducing barriers to employment.

This conversation today will inform my contributions to the upcoming Jobs and Skills Summit, and help shape the employment white paper over the coming 12 months.
