Call for witnesses - Car-jacking - Palmerston

Investigators from Strike Force Trident have arrested a man in relation to an alleged car-jacking last night.

It is alleged that around 10pm in the car park of a Palmerston shopping centre, a 70-year-old man was punched to the face by a man unknown to him, knocking him to the ground and causing a laceration requiring stitches. He was also allegedly threatened by the man, Northern Territory Police say.

The victim’s car keys were then allegedly stolen by the man who drove away in the victim’s vehicle, a white 2016 Holden Trax with NT registration CC08CJ. The vehicle was found about five hours later in Fannie Bay, completely destroyed by fire.

Investigators would like anyone who may have witnessed the incident or anyone who has information relating to it to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
