Call for witnesses - Serious assault - Nightcliff

At approximately 8pm last night, police CCTV operators reported observing the assault of a male at the front of the John Stokes Square unit complex in Nightcliff.

Upon attendance, police and St John Ambulance assisted a 33-year-old male who been knocked to the ground by two men. He was conveyed to Royal Darwin Hospital by St John Ambulance with serious facial and head injuries, Northern Territory Police say

Prior to the arrival of emergency responders, the men continued their attack whilst the injured man remained on the ground, appearing to be unconscious.

A 36-year-old male was arrested at the scene and a 23-year-old male was later arrested at Royal Darwin Hospital. Both remain in police custody.

A crime scene remains in place and the investigation is ongoing.

Detectives from the Crime Division wish to speak with any person who witnessed the assault or has any information about it. Information can also be reported anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
