The Tweed has been through some challenging times this year with COVID-19 restrictions, the devastating floods and the ongoing flood recovery.
The extraordinary challenges faced by our community in 2022 has resulted in some incredible actions by groups and individuals.
One of the best ways to recognise those people doing their best in our community is through the Tweed Shire Australia Day Awards, with nominations now open.
The awards are held each year on Australia Day (26 January) and provide an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate those who help build a vibrant community and make the Tweed a great place to live and visit.
If you know of someone who deserves recognition for their efforts, nominate them now in one of the following categories:

Citizen of the year

Volunteer of the year (individual and group)

Sporting achievement (individual and group)
The 2021 Tweed Shire Citizen of the Year, Australian Seabird Rescue volunteer Amanda Philp, was excited and surprised when she received the award in January 2022.
"It's such an honour and I was shocked to receive a nomination," Amanda said.
"It feels really, really good and I'm glad that I can help and to be recognised in the Tweed Shire is really nice."
