Calling all Young Territorians - Youth Round Table Nominations Open

Nominations for young people to join the NT Youth Round Table or tobecome the 2020 NT Youth Week Ambassador are now open.

The Youth Round Table is made up of 17 young membersfrom across the Territory and provides a platform to have their views andopinions heard on topics important to them and their peers.

Through design of a 12-month community-basedproject, the Youth Round Table provides young people with opportunities todevelop their leadership skills and to effect change within their communities.

The nominations have also opened for the NT YouthWeek Ambassador who is aged between 15 and 25 and dedicated and passionateabout youth affairs.

The Ambassador will represent their peers and helpto promote and plan NT Youth Week activities across the Territory between 14-24April 2020.

Territory Families Chief Executive Ken Davies saidthat these important roles give young people the opportunity to make realchange across their communities and develop skills to build their future.

TerritoryFamilies continues to focus on ensuring the connection between young people,their families and their community is strong and that young people have a rightto have their voices heard and respected, he said.

It is important torecognise and support young Territorians contributions to our community andnurture their growth for the future.

We have a greatcommunity of young people in the Northern Territory who are empowered, inspiredand engaged. I look forward to seeing what these amazing young people canachieve and contribute through next years NT Youth Week and the NT Youth RoundTable, he said.

Samuel Roussossaid his experience as the Darwin 2019 Youth Round Table member has beenamazing.

Ijoined the Youth Round Table because I wanted a platform in order to share myideas and perspectives and enact real change about the prominent issuesaffecting the youth of the NT and what I got was exactly that, he said.

So if you are thinking about joining theYouth Round Table I would heavily implore you to do so, because not only willyou create life-long friends but youre actually going to get a group that isgoing to listen to all your ideas and take them into real consideration.
