Canada accepting funding applications for Green and Inclusive Community Buildings Program

Infrastructure Canada

Today, the Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Infrastructure and Communities, announced the launch of a second application intake for the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings program.

"Our Government is investing in the public spaces Canadians use every day - places to gather, stay active, and socialize. That is what this program is all about. We look forward to partnering with communities across the country to create a more inclusive, greener country," said the Honourable Dominic LeBlanc, Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Infrastructure and Communities.

Under the Green and Inclusive Community Buildings program, the Government of Canada is investing in green and accessible retrofits, repairs, and upgrades to improve existing community buildings, as well as the construction of new publicly accessible community buildings.

Provincial, territorial, and local governments, not-for-profit and Indigenous organizations may now apply for funding with a total eligible cost ranging from $3 million to $25 million for upgrades to existing community buildings or new buildings. The online portal, available on the Infrastructure Canada website, opens today and closes on February 28, 2023. Applicants who were unsuccessful under the first intake may reapply.

By investing in infrastructure, the Government of Canada is growing our country's economy, increasing the resiliency of our communities, and improving the lives of Canadians.
