On January 30, 2026, the Honourable Buckley Belanger, Secretary of State for Rural Development, together with the Honourable Nate Glubish, Minister of Technology and Innovation of Alberta, announced funding to bring high-speed Internet access to communities in Alberta.
- As of January 2026, 95.3% of Alberta households have access to high-speed Internet (at least 50 Megabits per second download and 10 Megabits per second upload [50/10 Mbps+])
- In 2017, 82.6% of Alberta households had access to high-speed Internet (50/10 Mbps+).
- By the end of 2026, 98.6% of Alberta households are to be connected to high-speed Internet (50/10 Mbps+).
This funding is part of an existing agreement between the federal and provincial governments. The following communities will benefit from improved Internet speeds thanks to a project funded by the Government of Canada:
