The governments of Canada and Quebec are working together to provide Quebecers access to sustainable and safe facilities that promote recreational and sports activities in our communities.
Today, the Minister of National Revenue and Member of Parliament for Gaspésie-Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, the Honorable Diane Lebouthillier, on behalf of the Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Infrastructure and Communities, the Honorable Dominic LeBlanc, and the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources and Minister Responsible for the Côte-Nord and Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine Regions, Mr. Jonatan Julien, on behalf of the Minister for Education and Minister Responsible for Status of Women, Ms. Isabelle Charest, announced funding of $76,531 for the addition of a dehumidifier at the New Carlisle Citizen's Centre.
The Citizen's Centre welcomes curling and recreational hockey players from November to March. The new dehumidifier will improve the air quality, facilitate the storage of equipment and allow activities to be held during the summer.
For this project, the Government of Canada is contributing $38,265.50 under the Community, Culture and Recreation Infrastructure Stream (CCRIS) of the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program (ICIP), and the Government of Quebec is investing $38,265.50 under the Programme d'aide financière aux infrastructures récréatives et sportives (PAFIRS). This new infrastructure will contribute to the vitality and development of New Carlisle.
