Canada Backs Expansion of Rural Auto Parts Maker

Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario

Amino North America Corp. to manufacture made-in-Canada automotive parts, enter into EV market, and create and maintain over 45 jobs

Thanks to its skilled workers and their vast expertise, southern Ontario has emerged as a prominent hub supporting automotive manufacturing and innovation, specifically in the electric vehicle (EV) sector. The Government of Canada is committed to supporting our manufacturers as they adopt new processes and made-in-Canada products to strengthen local supply chains and create good jobs for Canadians.

Today, the Honourable Filomena Tassi, Minister responsible for the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario (FedDev Ontario), alongside Peter Fragiskatos, Member of Parliament for London North Centre, and Arielle Kayabaga, Member of Parliament for London West, announced an investment of $2 million for Amino North America Corp. (Amino), a leading automotive body panel and components manufacturer in St. Thomas.

To meet the growing demands of new and existing automotive clients, Amino will expand its facility by 42,000 sq. ft. and add a new automotive parts manufacturing line using the state-of-the-art processes. This line is expected to support the company as it diversifies its made-in-Canada automotive products, including battery compartments for the EV market.

This project will also create and maintain 45 jobs while continuing to strengthen the London area's growing auto sector and developing EV cluster.

While in the area, Minister Tassi also met with local St. Thomas and surrounding area businesses, organizations and community leaders in the EV and automotive sector at the St. Thomas Chamber of Commerce, where they discussed the important contributions that rural automotive businesses are providing to the growing EV sector, its supply chain and how the Government of Canada can support them as they reach their potential.

The Government of Canada will continue to grow our EV supply chain by supporting workers and manufacturers so they can adopt technologies that improve their production capabilities, create jobs and contribute to our zero-emissions targets.
