Lower Great Lakes Watershed Priority Area

  • The University of Toronto Scarborough will receive up to $1,805,700 for implementation and evaluation of recovery actions for aquatic species at risk (SAR) in the Lower Great Lakes Watershed. The project will identify important but unknown habitat requirements for key SAR, evaluate habitat threats, and restore habitat at selected sites for both fish and mussel SAR.
  • The St. Clair Region Conservation Authority will receive up to $1,227,000 for an ecosystem approach for the recovery of SAR in the Sydenham River in Canada. This multi-year project aligns with the Action Plan for the Sydenham River with stewardship actions directed within the five priority sub-basins of the East Sydenham River.
  • The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority will receive up to $838,000 to improve water quality for SAR in the Ausable River by following recommendations made in the Action Plan for the Ausable River.
  • The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority will receive up to $650,000, towards targeted Lower Thames Valley and Lake Erie sub-watershed improvements for aquatic SAR. This ecosystem-based, multi-partner project hopes to increase support for aquatic stewardship, outreach, and relationship building in support of recovery actions.
  • The Conservation Halton Foundation will receive up to $275,000 for aquatic SAR outreach and habitat enhancements in Conservation Halton's Watersheds. This project focuses on performing outreach and engaging with landowners who own properties in Bronte Creek, Fourteen Mile Creek and Sixteen Mile Creek.
