Canada and the United States held their first Indo-Pacific Dialogue on Friday, March 10. Led by Jody Thomas, National Security and Intelligence Advisor to the Prime Minister and Dr. Kurt Campbell, Deputy Assistant to the President and Coordinator for Indo-Pacific Affairs, discussions centered on key trends shaping the region and identified new areas of economic, security, development, and technological cooperation. Views were also exchanged on the challenges and opportunities facing the regional architecture. Both Canada and the United States reaffirmed a shared commitment to a free and open region, which is prosperous and secure. They agreed, working in close coordination, to implement each country's respective Indo-Pacific Strategies and to meet again soon.
