On April 21, 2026, the Canadian Forces Military Police (MP) charged one member of the Canadian Armed Forces with two charges pursuant to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA), and two charges pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada (CC).
Corporal (Cpl) Jacob Young from the 1st Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment in Petawawa, Ontario is charged with the following offences:
- One (1) count of unlawfully producing a substance contrary to section (sec.) 7 of the CDSA.
- One (1) count of trafficking a substance contrary to sec. 5 of the CDSA.
- Two (2) counts of resisting or obstructing public or peace officer contrary to sec. 129(a) of the CC.
Should the charges proceed to prosecution, the member will be tried in the civilian criminal justice system. As with all judicial proceedings, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
