Cannington Incident in Charges, WA

Police have charged a man in relation to an incident in Cannington on Wednesday 18 July 2018.

Around 6pm on Wednesday 18 July 2018, a man got out of his vehicle near Liege Street Cannington and used a golf club and a chain saw to damage his own vehicle. Police attended a short time later and it will be alleged that the man was shouting at police in an aggressive state, WA Police say.

Police officers drew their Tasers and instructed the man to drop to the ground. The man complied with police and was handcuffed. The man has continued to shout and began kicking out with his legs. Bystanders assisted police in restraining the man until further police officers arrived. An ambulance arrived and the man was conveyed to Royal Perth Hospital for a medical assessment.

A 27 year old man from Beckenham has been charged with the following offences:

•Disorderly Behaviour in Public

•Possess Prohibited Drug (methyl amphetamine)

The man is due to appear at court on a later date.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
