Plans to rebuild two sporting pavilions destroyed by fire in 2025 are gathering momentum.

The pavilions at Capital Reserve in Glen Waverley and Mayfield Park in Mount Waverley are both popular facilities used by cricket and soccer clubs.

Planning for the new pavilions is currently underway, with the projects presently out to tender as part of a Design and Construction procurement process. Once a contractor is appointed, detailed designs will be finalised early in 2027, with on-site works expected to start in mid-2027.

Brandon Park Reserve module delivery Sep 2025

The modular pavilion at Brandon Park Reserve is lowered into place

The new pavilions will be delivered using a modular construction approach. With this method, buildings are manufactured off-site before being transferred to and installed at the final location, reducing overall construction periods and minimising disruption to park users compared with traditional building approaches.

This helps limit impacts on sporting activities and general use of the reserve during construction.

Council has successfully delivered modular pavilion projects at Clayton's Carlson Reserve and Brandon Park Reserve in Glen Waverley, where the approach has proven to be an effective way of providing modern community facilities while reducing the duration and impact of construction works.
