Rockhampton's favourite pop culture convention CapriCon is making a guest appearance at the Bravus Rockhampton River Festival on Sunday 24 October.

Rockhampton Region Mayor Tony Williams said not only will festival attendees be able to enjoy food, arts and music they will also be delighted by CapriCon's signature cosplay competition on main stage. They will also be able to visit some of the unique vendors located in Pop Culture Alley in Quay Lane.

"CapriCon has grown to become such a huge part of our community over the past 5 years and we are excited to bring our highly skilled cosplayers and exhibitors to River Festival on Sunday 24 October," Mayor Williams said.

Advance Rockhampton Executive Manager Mr Greg Bowden said this is a great opportunity to support our CapriCon community. Since the cancellation of the convention in August, we have had a number of enquiries about whether the event would be re-scheduled.

"The CapriCon Cosplay Competition hosted by Black Apple Creative will open the festival main stage on Sunday morning and showcase standout costumes from professional and amateur cosplayers aged 5 years and up," Mr Bowden said.

"With prizes from major cosplay supplier Lumin's Workshop up for grabs, the titles of Top Cosplayer, Top Crafter and Top Team will be a hotly contested."

"Whether you're officially competing or just interested in taking a look, it will be a great family fun event with marvelous characters and superheroes for the young and young at heart."
