Car crash leads to drug charges for man - Hills

A man will appear in court today after being charged with multiple drug and traffic offences following a crash in Sydney's west yesterday.

About 2.45pm (Tuesday 7 May 2019), emergency services were called to Junction Road, near Bellotti Avenue, Winston Hills, following reports a Volkswagen Golf had crashed into two unoccupied parked cars and flipped onto its side.

The sole occupant and male driver, a 22-year-old man, was taken to Westmead Hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

Officers from The Hills Police Area Command attended and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, police seized the driver's bag, containing multiple bags of white powder, believed to be cocaine, a container of Alprazolam (Xanax), and over $16,000 in cash.

The man was arrested and upon discharge from hospital, taken to Castle Hill Police Station. Police will allege that while in custody, he made a number of threats towards a male constable.

He was charged with supply prohibited drug, deal with property proceeds of crime, possession of restricted substance, intimidate police officer, drive whilst suspended and negligent driving.

The man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Local Court today (Wednesday 8 May 2019).
