Cardinia Shire Council has formally adopted its Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2026–2028, marking an important milestone in Council's ongoing commitment to reconciliation.
Developed in partnership with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community members, Traditional Owners, the broader community and Council's internal Reconciliation Working Group, the RAP outlines actions to build stronger relationships, deepen respect and create meaningful opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across the Shire.
Cardinia Shire Council Mayor, Councillor Brett Owen said the RAP is more than a document, it reflects the shared commitment of Council and community to continue progressing reconciliation.
"Our third RAP builds on the progress we've already made and reinforces our dedication to strengthening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across Cardinia Shire" Mayor Owen says.
"Thank you to everyone who contributed to the development of our RAP. Your voices and experiences have shaped this plan."
"With the plan now adopted, we look forward to working together to turn these commitments into action."
The RAP includes an updated Vision and Statement for Reconciliation and will guide Council's reconciliation priorities and actions through to early 2028.
