Carnegie Mellon University ranked 28th overall and 29th in Research out of 1,799 institutions worldwide in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023 released today. CMU ranked 19th out of 177 U.S. institutions.
Carnegie Mellon's Research Reputation score increased 3.1 points and the Percentage of International Staff score increased 1.9 points.
The annual rankings examine five key performance pillars: Teaching, Research, Citations, Industry Income and International Outlook. Together, the performance pillars include 13 performance indicators that, when combined, create an overall score that reflects the strength of the institution.
