Cathay Pacific Flight Diverted After Heart Attack

A Cathay Pacific flight en route from Zurich to Hong Kong was forced to make an emergency landing in the eastern European nation of Azerbaijan after a passenger suffered a serious medical episode  mid-flight.

According to the flight radar information, the Airbus A350-1041 aircraft, designed to seat 350 passengers was diverted to Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku at 9:30 PM local time (UTC +04).

Local media cited airport officials as saying the captain requested an emergency landing due to a passenger having a cardiac arrest required immediate medical attention. The plane landed safely and was met by airport emergency services who transported the passenger to a local hospital.

The incident caused a brief delay, but the flight was able to resume its journey to Hong Kong, taking off from Baku at 00:11 local time.

The health status of the passenger who suffered the medical episode is currently unknown.
