Caught in head lights

Police have arrested a man after he was allegedly caught committing a burglary in Glen Waverley this morning.

Members from the Public Order Response Team (PORT) were patrolling Springvale Road when they observed a vehicle parked at a construction site with its headlights on about 2.05am.

Police set up a cordon and located a man on site before discovering the property had been broken into.

Police searched the man and allegedly located a box cutter and what is believed to be methylamphetamine in his possession.

A subsequent search of the car is alleged to have uncovered firework explosives.

The 26-year-old Noble Park man was arrested and charged with burglary, theft from motor vehicle, possess a drug of dependence, possess controlled weapon, without approval transport unauthorised explosive, possess proceeds of crime, drive whilst disqualified and fail to give information as to driver.

He was remanded to appear at Ringwood Magistrates' Court later today.
