CCTV released after 84-year-old man robbed in Cheltenham

Moorabbin Crime Investigation Unit detectives have released CCTV footage with the hope to identify a vehicle after an 84-year-old man was robbed in Cheltenham earlier this month.

Investigators have been told the victim was walking along Wilson Street, near the intersection of Bernard Street, when he was approached from behind by an unknown man about 11.30am on Saturday, 11 July.

The male yanked at the victim's leather satchel bag, causing him to fall and hit his head on the ground.

The offender stole the bag and took off in a grey-coloured vehicle, north along Wilson Street, before travelling east along Bernard Street.

The victim was not physically injured during the incident.

Detectives have today released CCTV footage of a Kia Cerato hatchback in the hope someone may recognise the vehicle and its driver.

Anyone who recognises the vehicle or who witnessed the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
