NSW Government Advice: Reporting Sick Or Dead Birds

MidCoast Council

Council is sharing advice from the NSW Government following a suspected H5 bird flu detection in a wild migratory seabird near Hawks Nest. The risk to human health remains low, and bird flu has not been detected in commercial poultry flocks, captive birds or other birds in NSW.

If you see sick or dead wild birds, please do not touch them. Instead, safely record what you see by taking photos or video, note the location, and report it immediately to the 24-hour Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888.

Reports should be made to the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline, not Council.
