CCTV released after arson attack, NSW

Detectives investigating a suspicious fire following a break-in at Taren Point earlier this year, have released CCTV footage as they appeal for public assistance, NSW Police say.


About 5.30am on Sunday 9 September 2018, a man forced entry to a commercial premises on Box Road and poured an accelerant onto the floor, before lighting it on fire.

Fire crews were notified and attended to extinguish the blaze; however, there was significant damage to the building.


A crime scene was established and forensically examined.

Investigators from Sutherland Shire Police Area Command have now released CCTV footage of a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.


The man depicted is of Caucasian appearance, and of a medium build.

He is seen wearing a black jacket, pants, shoes, and cap as well as a white helmet.

As inquiries continue, anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
