CCTV released after Hawthorn East theft and deception

Police are seeking to identify a man captured on CCTV following a theft from a car and use of a stolen credit card in Hawthorn East last month.

It is believed an unknown person stole a woman's handbag from her car parked on Hall Street sometime between 10pm on 21 September and 3.15am on 22 September.

Shortly after, a man used her credit card to purchase cigarettes from a nearby service station on Camberwell Road about 3.30am.

The man then drove away on a black motorbike.

Detectives have released CCTV and images of a man they believe can assist with their enquiries.

The man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged approximately 30-40-years-old, with brown hair.

He was wearing a heavy black and white motorcycle jacket with a red undergarment, black tracksuit pants with two white stripes and black runners. Male was also carrying a black backpack on his back.
