CCTV released after home invasion - Strathfield

Police are appealing for public assistance to identify a man as inquiries continue into the assault of a man during a home invasion at Strathfield.

About 5.30am Thursday (11 February 2021), two men allegedly forced entry to a home on Meredith Street and confronted the occupant, a 57-year-old man.

They threatened the resident with a knife before assaulting him. The resident was able to retreat to a bathroom where he called police.

Officers from Auburn Police Area Command attended and commenced and investigation.

The man suffered a suffered a 10cm cut to his forehead in the attack and was taken to Concord Hospital for treatment. He has since been released.

Following inquiries, officers arrested a man a short time later at Homebush Railway Station.

The Croydon man, who's also aged 57, was taken to Auburn Police Station and charged with aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence; and aggravated assault with intent to rob.

He was refused bail and appeared at Burwood Local Court where he was remanded in custody to reappear in the same court on 14 April 2021.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident and have released an image of a man who may be able to assist with inquiries.

He's described as being of Asian appearance, aged in his 50s, about 160cm tall with a thin build.

The man in the image is wearing a navy long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans, brown boots, and a blue face mask.
