CCTV released as part of Melbourne CBD sexual assault investigation

Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team (SOCIT) detectives have released CCTV footage of a man as part of an investigation into a sexual assault in Melbourne's CBD last month.

Investigators have been told a 28-year-old woman was walking west along A'Beckett Street about 10.40pm on 2 January when she was approached by an unknown male who grabbed her from behind.

The man then sexually assaulted the woman before walking away towards Flagstaff Gardens.

He was last seen running towards King Street.

Detectives have released an image and CCTV footage of a man they believe could assist with their enquiries.

The man is captured wearing a white hoodie, black tracksuit pants and white sneakers.
